Chelsea Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger Announces Departure
After Five Years at the Club
Berger departs with a host of major honours
Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger has announced that she will leave the club at the end of the season.
The German shot-stopper has been a key figure in the Blues' success in recent years, winning four Women's Super League titles, three FA Cups, two Continental Cups, and one Community Shield.
Berger joined Chelsea from Birmingham City in 2019 and has made over 100 appearances for the club. She has been a regular in the Germany national team and was part of the squad that won the 2013 European Championship.
In a statement on her Instagram account, Berger said: "After five years at Chelsea, it is time for a new chapter in my life. I have had an incredible time at the club and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have played for such a historic club.
"I have made some lifelong friends here and I will always cherish the memories I have made. I would like to thank the fans for their amazing support over the years. You have made me feel so welcome and I will never forget the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge."
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said: "Ann-Katrin has been an incredible servant to this club. She is a world-class goalkeeper and a great person. She will be sorely missed, but we wish her all the best in her future endeavours."
