Sancho and Reus Score to Secure Hosts' Progression
Dortmund, Germany - March 13, 2024
Borussia Dortmund put in a commanding performance to beat PSV Eindhoven 2-0 in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie, sealing a 3-1 aggregate victory.
Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus in the first half proved enough to secure a last-eight spot for the German giants. The victory marks a significant achievement for Dortmund, who had fallen at this stage of the competition in the previous two seasons.
With the home crowd roaring them on, Dortmund began the match with intensity and took control of the proceedings. Sancho opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a stunning solo effort, dribbling past several PSV defenders before firing home from close range.
Reus doubled Dortmund's advantage in the 32nd minute with a well-taken free-kick that left PSV goalkeeper Walter Benitez rooted to the spot. Despite PSV's best efforts, they were unable to find a way back into the game and Dortmund held on comfortably for a memorable victory.
